POSITION: GUEST SERVICES FULL TIME-FLEX

Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Job Description:

  1. Assist residents staying in the shelter overnight

  2. Monitor the activity of residents on an assigned shift enduring safety, security and compliance to house rules

  3. Maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information

  4. Assist with emergency shelter and day shelter guests with check-in and services.

  5. Ensures that facility is maintained in a neat and proper order

  6. Communicates with supervisor and designated staff regarding guest issues

  7. Maintain confidentiality of all communication regarding guests, agency, and staff

  8.  Check answering machine messages, and answer the phone as needed.

  9. Manages shelter operations to include enforcing shelter rules, policies and procedures, ensuring a calm, and supportive atmosphere.

  10. Conducts daily Chore Assignments for guests

  11. Orients, assists and manages volunteers as needed

  12. Performs janitorial and cleaning services as needed

  13. Assist when needed if another co-worker is unable to perform their duties

  14. Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

  1. High School diploma or G.E.D.

  2. One year prior experience performing customer service duties, or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

Qualifications:

  1. Strong problem-solving skills

  2. Confident communication skills both written and verbal

  3. Flexibility & ability to troubleshoot

  4. Relationship manager with comfort in working with diverse populations (volunteers, staff, board members, community members, etc.)

  5. Detail-oriented and organized, Ability to organize a daily workload by priorities.

  6. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a larger staff team

  7. Ability to de-escalate difficult situations, possess and implement strong conflict resolution skills.

  8. Ability to connect with diverse types of organizations: schools, businesses, government, faith organizations, etc.

  9. Patient, compassionate, & professional

  10. Must have flexible schedule, nights and holidays

Physical Demands:

  1. Prolonged standing, walking

  2. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
