Harlan’s Story

“This place has done wonders for me.”

Harlan is a veteran who served proudly in Vietnam as an Army Ranger. For many years, he had a wonderful life, married to his wife of 38 years. When she passed away from bone cancer, his world fell apart. Grief took hold, and he turned to alcohol, which eventually led him into homelessness.

That’s when Harlan heard about Our Daily Bread and decided to give it a try. The shelter provided him with food, a safe place to stay, and the support he needed. When he moved into the transitional part of the shelter, he was able to start saving money and following a clear roadmap that showed him how to rebuild his life.

Today, with a part-time job and savings, Harlan is in a position to move forward into stable housing. He credits Our Daily Bread for giving him the tools and support to better himself and regain hope for the future.
