Kenneth’s Story

“ I know i’m not alone!”

Thirteen months ago, Kenneth found himself standing at a crossroads, having battled addiction and homelessness for years. Today, he stands proudly, clean and sober for thirteen months.

Our Daily Bread became his lifeline, surpassing the assistance he had received elsewhere. His driving force is to reunite with his family, whom he hasn't seen in over four years.

He is an active participant in the Ready for Work Training Program at Our Daily Bread. After persevering through its stages, he is now in the final leg of the program. He holds a paid position and is on track to be reunited with his family in a matter of weeks. His youngest daughter was six months old when he last saw her; she is now five, and she serves as his inspiration.

The Ready for Work Program has been extremely impactful for him—not just in employment, but also in helping with essentials like obtaining a bank account, which he had not had in years. While it may seem simple, it represents a significant step toward stability.

Within Our Daily Bread, he found genuine support from staff and fellow guests, who became like family. These relationships steered him away from trouble and ensured he had access to the services he needed to succeed.

Beyond the challenges, he strives to be a source of joy within the shelter—a dedicated jokester brightening others' days. He is determined to make life fun again.
