Lance was in an accident in January of last year that took away his ability to walk. He found himself in a wheelchair, and before long, his savings were gone. He lost his home, his possessions, and his car. With nowhere else to turn, Lance decided to come to the shelter, believing it would be his best option—and it turned out to be just that.

At the shelter, he met many wonderful people who understood what he was going through and supported him in his journey. With their help, he was able to get out of his wheelchair and walk again. The first program he entered was Ready For Work, where he worked for the City of Denton. On other days, he volunteered at the shelter, which eventually helped him transition to the program’s next stage.

Recently, Lance secured a steady job and began saving half of every paycheck. Now, with the support of Our Daily Bread, he is preparing to move into his own place very soon.
